Pondering Christian's First Start
October 28th | Football
Before I even begin discussing Ponder's performance this past weekend, I have to comment on the element of his game that impressed me the most: swagger. The word is thrown around now a days and in the process it has really lost its meaning. In this case, when I say Ponder played with a swagger, I am commenting on his confidence, composure and poise.

2012 NFL Mock Draft: Version 1.0
October 4th | Football
So with the first quarter of the season in the books, for some teams it's time to start preparing for 2012. Now is the time to experiment with young players, trade veterans for picks and bench McNabb in favour of Christian Ponder in the case of stubborn Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier.
This is one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory, with just two undefeated teams remaining headed into the bye weeks. Eight teams have a .500 record while eleven sit at 3-1. With highly praised teams such as Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and the Jets struggling and surprise teams like Tennessee, Buffalo, San Francisco and Washington sporting 3-1 records, it is a seemingly insurmountable task to predict which twelve teams will be playing in January.

Week 1: What Did I Miss?
September 12th, 2011 | Football
What better way to start the column than with the game that kicked off the regular season. The game that was being hyped up for over two months certainly did not fail to deliver. Brees and Rodgers combined for 731 passing yards and six touchdowns in a game that came down to the wire. Ultimately, the game came down to the Packers defensive line dominating the Saints offensive line on the final play, just as it had all game. You can analyze this game to death if you would like, but in the end, these two teams are among the elite in the NFL. As analysts, all we can do is sit back and admire football at its finest. Take note, Pittsburgh.

Final Cuts Looming for Vikings ahead of Preseason Finale vs. Houston
September 1st, 2011 | Football
With final cuts less than a few days away, I would like to take this opportunity to step into the shoes of coach Leslie Frazier and VP of Player Personnel Rick Speilman, if only for a moment, and give my take on the impending roster cut down. Now I am only a writer, not a coach, so I could not possibly have as good of a feel for these guys as Frazier and Spielman do. I do, however, like to think that I know a fair bit about this team and its players. With that being said, here is my take on who I feel will be released come Saturday and who will make the final 53-man roster for the Minnesota Vikings:

Notes From Rams Camp
August 24th, 2011 | Football
Earth City, Missouri The St. Louis Rams headquarters are located in Earth City, Missouri on the outskirts of St. Louis, at the Russell Training Facility. It's a small city with a passion for football. The Rams take a backseat in Earth City to the Missouri Tigers, however, with the Bradford era beginning in St. Louis, that may be about to change.

July 21st, 2011 | Soccer
Wednesday marked the start of a new era for Toronto FC as they got set to do battle with FC Dallas. With less than half the season remaining, Toronto was granted a new beginning. "The first day of the rest of our lives" claimed one team official. After the recent roster overhaul that took place over the past couple of weeks, Winter's squad featured five new players in the starting XI. Defenders Andy Iro and Eddy Viator, midfielder Torsten Frings and forwards Ryan Johnson and Danny Koevermans all made their TFC debuts against FC Dallas.

Strong Front Seven Highlight Vikings Defensive Core
July 12th, 2011 | Football
The Vikings defense had a different feel to it in the 2010 season. While the starters were pretty much the same from 2009, the results were completely different. In 2010 the Vikings saw their rushing defense rank ninth in the NFL after ranking second in 2009 and first overall in 2008, 2007 and 2006. It was the first time in a long time that the Vikings had some trouble stopping the run. While the rushing defense dropped off a bit, the secondary had somewhat of a breakout year statistically. After ranking eighteenth in passing defense in 2008 and nineteenth in 2009, the Vikings secondary made a big jump forward, finishing tenth in passing defense. It was the first time the Vikings managed to crack the top ten since they ranked ninth in 1996. So how is last year's eighth ranked defense looking? Here's a look at the Vikings defense for the 2011 season:

Vikings Offense has a New Guy at the Helm
July 8th, 2011 | Football
Alright so it is getting to that time of year again when training camp is just around the corner, the weather is nice and I start to get that itch for football. Yes, yes I know the current situation in the NFL with the lockout and all, but remain optimistic that an agreement will be made in the coming week. I am not only optimistic because I want a decision to be made, but because all signs point to an agreement being made before the mid-July deadline. Both sides know what is at stake and they realize they have too much to lose. So with my first NFL piece of the 2011-12 season, it is only right for me to focus on my Minnesota Vikings and where they stand position by position headed into training camp and free agency. First up, here is a look at the Post-Favre era offense.
